The first weeks of going low-carb can be challenging since high-carb foods tend to be addictive and lead to cravings. Researchers suggest that these cravings could be a result of their effects on brain chemistry and mood [1]. Luckily, you can wean yourself off carbs with a few simple tricks and you'll see those craving for sweet things diminish and even disappear. Here ere are some tips for you to deal with your cravings for sweets:

  • Don’t keep your “forbidden” high-carb foods around – get rid of them to avoid temptation. 

  • In the first weeks, avoid all fruits and other sweet-tasting carbs.

  • If you really need something sweet, use "zero-carb" healthy sweeteners like stevia and erythritol.

  • Make low-GI keto desserts using sugar substitutes in small amounts, like Erythritol to avoid  desensitize your senses.
